NYC Dance Festival ballroom dancing competition videos and photos

Our ballroom dance formation team of 16 people from Albany traveled to the NYC dance festival this past weekend. I took several videos and photos to share with you.
Here is a video from just outside of the competition ballroom. You can get a sense of the excitement and ballroom dance vendors.

Next I chat with Paul and Louise our ballroom dance team choreographers and teachers. Paul and Louise are the best dancers in their age group in the United States and super awesome people to be around.

We are always open to new folks joining our team. Feel free to contact Louise if this looks like fun to you.BackofHouseNYCDanceFestival

Ballroom dance lessons in Albany, NY

There are many ballroom dances around Albany, NY every week. Most of the time there is a lesson before the dance.
These are usually drop-in lessons meaning that you pay for a single lesson and don’t have to sign up for or attend a whole series of lessons.

One of the benefits of going to these lessons is that you get to meet more people. In the dance studio lessons you are with a smaller group of people more frequently. Dance studio lessons are great for getting to know people and of course improving your ballroom dancing.

In today’s episode of Want Romance Learn To Dance I take you on tour to the monthly SOS Ballroom dance at the Polish Community Center in Albany, NY. About 45 people are learning some rumba dance steps from Eileen Spadaro a local ballroom dance teacher from Schenectady.

Enjoy!

West Coast Swing dancing late night New Year’s Eve 2012

Swing dance events are great places to connect with your creativity and meet women who are healthy, beautiful and creative. I met my wife at a swing dance. Here is a short video of a west coast swing dance event near Boston, MA.
It is 2 a.m. and the pro dancers are out dancing with everyone else. It is a real treat to dance with the pros. In this video you will see Lemery Rollins, one of the top west coast swing dancers in the U.S. Enjoy!

West coast swing dances, what are they like in Albany NY

In today’s episode of Want Romance Learn to Dance, I take you to our local west coast swing dance near Albany, NY.

West coast swing is my favorite social partner dance. I love the variety of motion and emotion, the many styles of music and the exchange of energy between the man and woman.

I feel that west coast swing is the highest form of partner dancing where the man and women have freedom to express themselves while staying true to their connection to each other and the music.

Feel free to ask any questions or share your observations from the west coast swing dance video in the comments below.

Thanks for watching and sharing.

Shaggin’ with my wife in Myrtle Beach

Shaggin’ is a romantic activity that often comes from dancin’. It’s also the name of a style of swing dancing from the Carolinas.

Dawn and I attended Spring Safari, one of the two annual Shag dance gatherings in North Myrtle Beach last weekend. Thousands of shag dancers from all over the world came together for 10 days of fun in the sun and sand.

Here is a fun video from our romantic dance getaway.

You can also start learning to dance with our home study Ballroom dance instruction DVD and book.

Latin dance fitness workout with Julianne Hough

I’ve been working out with weights at the gym a lot lately. I like the immediate feeling of pushing myself and the sense of accomplishment. I don’t like the hours of boring, isolated activity.

I much prefer social partner dancing as a way to stay fit and get strong. Here are some good dance fitness videos showing how much more engaging and full body dancing can be as an exercise routine.

Here is one of the most popular social latin dance videos on YouTube. Doesn’t this look a lot more fun than lifting weights, running on a treadmill or even a Zumba class?

This dance fitness workout is targeted at the ladies. Julianne Hough from Dancing with the Stars has a hot dance workout routine for ladies.

Here is a fun, upbeat Lindy Hop Dance that I’m sure whips these guys into great shape.

How to do a body roll for a better Zumba dance workout

Girls love it when guys do a body roll. It shows they are in control yet flexible.

I want to help you feel more confident and better in your body. In this video I show you how to do a body roll, one part of your body at a time.

A lot of people say I can’t do it after a few tries, I promise you, you can do it! I have taught this dance move to hundreds of people.

I also talk about how dance moves like body rolls can help you be healthier by moving life energy through your body. I share a short section from Dr. Donald Epstein’s book called Healing Myths and Healing Magic on how connecting with your chakras leads to a better life.

Hot Help Tip #6: Move your chakras for better health.

New Year resolution to be healthier, sexier and more alive!

Did you make a New Year’s resolution to be healthier in 2012?

We are here to help make your dream come true. Below are some video highlights from our Zumba Dance Party in Saratoga Springs. We are hosting another one on January 12, 2012. After the highlights I give you my Hot Help Tip of the Day, a better way to move, get tight tush faster and get know yourself better.

I also explore how this dance fitness technique helps you get in touch with your feelings. I don’t mean emotions, I mean feelings. It’s time to starting being aware of our feelings, how our body feels, what each muscle feels like as we engage it and disengage it.

I think a lot of the dis-ease in the world today can be avoided if we tune into our bodies better. Listen to what your body is telling you, by feeling it. Slow down for a minute the next time you are exercising and pay attention to which muscles you are using.

Stay tuned for our Tight Tush contest coming in late January!

Hot Help Tip 3: Get In Touch With Your Feelings.

A tight tush is attractive on both men and women.
Does your tush stand up under its own power?

Meet beautiful people at swing dance events

Dawn and I reflect on our trip to Boston for Bill Cameron’s New Year’s Eve West Coast Swing dance party. Dance weekends are a great place to meet fun, healthy beautiful people. Also featured in this video are some clips from dance performances by Gregory Scott and Lemery Rollins and Benji Schwimmer.

Below is a video of Benji and his partner Tori winning the West Coast Swing Showcase Division at the U.S. Open Swing Dance Championshipsin November 2011.
